The NSG Management and Technical Services Limited, on 13th April 2016, signed a USD6.7million contract with the Government of Dominica for a major infrastructure project in Roseau.
Construction work commenced in May 2016 of the new West Bridge and includes demolishing of the existing structure and its foundations, the construction of a new two-lane bridge on new foundations, approach apron roads and connection to the Roseau River walls, construction of a river training wall and dredging of the river.
The project is expected to be completed within 12 months.
These works form part of the Roseau Enhancement Project and comes out of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), signed in 2014 between NSG Management and Technical Services Limited and the Government of Dominica, and the design contract signed between the two parties in 2015.
The West Bridge will see a number of enhanced features to the current crossing. It will be approximately 4m longer than the existing structure with an arched profile, thereby increasing the stream flow of the river. It will have two lanes of traffic on the 7.3m roadway plus two 1.5m wide footpaths, safety railings, LED lighting poles and bridge under-lighting.
The public ground-breaking ceremony took place on 22nd April 2016 and was attended by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt, Minister of Public Works and Ports Sen. Hon. Miriam Blanchard, Permanent Secretary Kendall Johnson and other members of the public service along with the NSG team.
